How it works

One code per ball. Every find on the map.

Gopher Balls turns lost balls into a game. Here is everything that happens, from the printer to the leaderboard.

For owners

  1. Get coded balls

Buy a box of ours, or send us your own and we print a code on each one. Every code is unique, random and never reused.

  2. Register them

Scan one ball, enter the box code to register all twelve at once, or register a range like balls 1 to 6 to split a box with a friend. Add your home course and a nickname for the ball.

  3. Play like normal

The code is small and printed opposite the logo. It does not change how the ball flies, and the ball stays legal for play.

  4. Hear when it turns up

Every find is emailed to you, with the place and any photo the finder shared.

For finders

  1. Scan the ball

Point your camera at the QR code. The ball's page opens: who registered it, where it has been, how far it has traveled.

  2. Register it as found

Add your email and allow location. The find is placed on the map automatically.

  3. Add a photo, if you like

Snap the ball where it landed, or a selfie with it. You choose whether photos show on the ball's page.

  4. Keep it in play

Play it, pass it on, leave it in the bin at the clubhouse. Every next find adds to its story, and to your finder count on the leaderboard.

Questions

Do finders need an app?

No. Any phone camera opens the ball page from the QR code. If the code is scuffed, the short code printed under it works too.

What happens when my ball is found?

The find goes on the ball page with the course or town, the map and the miles update, and we email you.

Is my location shared?

Only with your permission, and only to about a kilometre on public pages. We never show an exact spot or a finder's email.
